SusKelpFood’s project leaders Pierrick Stévant and Arne Duinker participated to the Seagriculture conference which took place in Trondheim, 21st and 22nd June 2023. Seagriculture is a leading conference for the seaweed industry organised each year both in Europe and America/Asia/Pacific. With a record attendance of 221 delegates from 26 countries, Seagriculture EU 2023 witnessed an unprecedented level of participation. More than 130 companies and institutions from various sectors actively engaged in discussions, networking, and knowledge sharing, highlighting the global interest in seaweed farming and its wide-ranging applications. The conference featured an impressive lineup of keynote presentations with five renowned experts offering valuable insights into the latest developments and emerging trends in the industry. A panel of 30 speakers also delivered the state-of-the-art knowledge on various topics including cultivation techniques, product innovation and market trends.
Arne led a group of seaweed enthusiasts for a walk at Kosvika Beach, with focus on studying and tasting local species while Pierrick presented a poster entitled "Nutritious and safe kelp ingredients to the food industry: Insights from the SusKelpFood project”. The poster included results from the warm seawater treatment experiment for iodine reduction from last year and preliminary results from the ongoing allergen study.
